A 56-year-old New Jersey man has been arrested for allegedly killing his former lover in his Jersey City home, then wrapping her body up in blankets and leaving it on the sidewalk less than a block from his house.
Authorities responding to a report of a "suspicious object" on Reservoir Avenue Saturday morning found the body of Albanelis De Larosa, 51. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Miguel Romero, who lives less than a block from where her body was found, was arrested about 24 hours later. Authorities say the two apparently used to date; investigators believe Romero killed De Larosa in his home and dumped her on the street.
A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how she died.
Romero faces a charge of first-degree murder. It wasn't immediately clear if he had retained an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
