A man who was sleeping on the subway was slashed in the neck by a masked man who had crept up to him in a train car early Saturday, police said.
The 33-year-old victim was asleep on the E train near 14th Street when a man with spiky hair in a winter mask quietly slashed his neck, according to the NYPD.
No words were exchanged and there was no robbery attempt in the slashing around 5 a.m., police said.
The attacker fled through the subway exit at Eighth Avenue and 16th Street, according to police.
The victim was brought to Bellevue Hospital, the FDNY said. His condition remained unknown Saturday night but his injuries were said to be non-life-threatening.
Police haven't made any arrests.
