Nearly two dozen members and associates of the notorious Lucchese crime family, including top hierarchy within the organization, were arrested on federal racketeering charges in a sweeping bust early Wednesday, law enforcement officials tell NBC 4 New York.
The FBI's Organized Crime Task Force executed the arrests on racketeering charges including murder, law enforcement sources said.
The defendants are expected to appear in federal court in White Plains later Wednesday.
The Manhattan U.S. attorney's office is expected to release additional details of the charges and investigation later in the day.
