A parachutist in Jersey City's Fleet Week crashed into the water on Sunday, officials said.
A member of the Navy Leap Frogs suffered a malfunction that caused him to go into the water near Liberty State Park, the Coast Guard said. He was part of a team supporting Fleet Week.
Witnesses saw the person falling in the sky with a parachute on. The person was spiraling and did not appear to be in control of his descent, witnesses said.
A parachute floated down into a parking lot.
A Coast Guard member rescued him from the water and brought him to Emergency Medical Technicians waiting at the pier, the Coast Guard said.
His name and condition weren't released.
