Stormy Saturday, But Rest of Holiday Weekend Is Gorgeous

The hot, muggy weather will likely give way to rain and possibly thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon, Storm Team 4 says.

But the forecast is gorgeous for the Fourth of July, the holiday is expected to have the best weather of the weekend.

Storm Team 4 says widespread showers and storms are expected to arrive Saturday afternoon after an uncomfortable, humid start to the day. Stronger storms could develop north and west of the city, potentially bringing heavy rain, damaging winds and frequent lightning.

The storms are expected to continue through the latter half of the day Saturday and into the evening.

Lingering showers are possible early Sunday on Long Island, but the day will be mostly dry. Expect highs near 90 degrees with lots of sunshine.

Monday could see an isolated afternoon storm, but it's expected to stay mostly dry with highs near 90.

The Fourth of July should bring tons of sun, low humidity and highs in the mid-80s ahead of Macy's fireworks show Tuesday night.
