Man Arrested in Murder Witnessed by Victim's 8-Year-Old Son

State and federal authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the Dec. 4 murder of an Irvington man, who was robbed and killed in front of his 8-year old son.

Tashan Green was arrested in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania by FBI agents and detectives from the local police and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Green, 23, of Newark, faces a laundry list of charges that include murder and endangering the welfare of a child, the prosecutor's office said in a statement Thursday.

The victim, Marcos Angamarca-Yupa, was a 29-year-old construction worker from Ecuador.

The man's godfather, Alberto Alvarez, told News 4 New York that one of the victim's relatives watched from a window while the shooting unfolded inside a courtyard area on Grove Street in Irvington.

Alvarez said the victim parked his car to close an electronic gate when two suspects came in demanding money from him and his wife. He offered up a cellphone, but the suspect shot him in the head, Alvarez said.

Attorney information for Green was not immediately available. He is being held in a Pennsylvania jail pending extradition to New Jersey.
