Transit Guide: What to Expect for Your Thursday Commute

The fourth nor'easter to hit the tri-state in the month of March pummeled te region with heavy snow and damaging winds, affecting travel by land, air and sea.

But luckily, the storm hasn't appeared to have the same crippling affects on the region's massive network of roads, rails and airports as previous ones. But there could still be some residual delays and changes into Thursday morning as the storm pushes away.

Here's what you need to know:

NYC SUBWAY

By late Wednesday, D and F trains were running under the city's winter weather plan, with some trains being stored on express tracks to keep them protected for Thursday's commute. The MTA, however, hasn't announced any service changes for Thursday as all other lines were reported to be in good service.

The MTA is suggesting straphangers to follow the @NYCTSubway Twitter account for updates. Get real-time commute updates here.

LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD

The LIRR hasn't announced any changes to its schedule for Thursday. It said it would work through the night to ensure normal service Thursday. The agency is still warning customers the storm could impact some service.

LIRR customers can check for service updates on MTA.info/LIRR, through text and email alerts, and on Twitter.

METRO-NORTH

Regular weekday service on the Metro-North is expected on Thursday. The rail network had run on a modified schedule Wednesday. Read Metro-North's Guide to Winter Weather Travel.

Metro-North customers can check for service updates on MTA.info/MNR, through text and email alerts, and on Twitter. Real-time train information is also provided on the Metro-North Train Time website and on the Metro-North Train Time app.

NJ Transit

NJ Transit will operate on a normal schedule Thursday for buses, rail and light rail. Access Link will resume at noon Thursday. However, customers may expect delays and cancellations due to the residual effects of the storm, NJT said.

The transit system had operated on its Severe Weather Schedule Level 1 Wednesday and had suspended all bus service at 3 p.m. Wednesday, including to and from Port Authority.

AMTRAK

Amtrak said it will operate on a modified schedule Thursday, with dozens of Acela Express, Northeast Regional and Empire service trains canceled. The rail carrier had operated on a modified schedule Wednesday, as well.
