1 Person Killed in Small Plane Crash in NY: State Police

A small yellow plane crashed into trees Saturday morning in New York's Orange County, killing one person and injuring another, state police said.

Both victims had to be cut out of the aircraft, said Terry Reynolds, assistant chief of the New Hampton Fire Department.

The Aeronca 7AC crashed just after takeoff from the Randall Airport in Middletown, the FAA said. The plane crashed near Dolstontown Road.

Chopper 4 video showed the small yellow aircraft caught in the trees in a rural area. A group of people stands next to the plane, talking to each other.

A clerk at a nearby Cycle Motion store said she saw a small plane in the trees. She said many police cars and three fire trucks were on the scene.

The FAA and NTSB were investigating.
