A Long Island boy got something a lot better than a foul ball at a Yankees game this week: he got to play catch with Bronx bombers superstar Aaron Judge.
James Payne caught the attention of thousands of social media users after his dad, Chris Payne, posted video of the 10-year-old playing catch from the stands with Judge during the fifth inning of a game against the Phillies in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
And it wasn't just a quick toss. James, wearing Judge's jersey, fielded four throws from the outfielder, impressing not just the rest of his section, but the game's broadcast announcers.
"I love this kid's arm," the announcer on the YES Network call said.
James, who got to go to the game in the City of Brotherly Love because school had just let out, said he was just soaking in the moment with his favorite baseball player.
"I didn't realize until the day after how, like, amazing it was," said James, who wears Judge's No. 99 on his travel little league team.
His dad added, "Just 4 throws, (Judge) made him the happiest kid in the world."
