Police are looking for a man who allegedly attacked and tried to rape a woman walking on a street in Queens.
The 30-year-old woman was walking along 79th Street after getting off the subway on Liberty Avenue in Ozone Park at around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, June 29, when the man pounced, police said.
Police believe the man, who was swinging something over his shoulder, tried to rape the woman. He allegedly grabbed her by the neck and tried to force her to the ground.
The victim was able to fight him off and run away, screaming for help, police said. She was not injured, and refused medical attention at the scene.
The suspect is described as being about 20 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
