Baby Dies After Being Found Unresponsive at Day Care: Source

An infant boy died at the hospital after a day care worker noticed he wasn't breathing in his crib during a nap in Brooklyn, according to law enforcement sources.

The four-month-old baby, identified as Ayden Perez, was at day care at 423 Blake Ave. in Brownsville and napping in a crib when a worker went to check on him Friday afternoon, sources said. The baby wasn't breathing, and staff immediately started CPR as 911 was called.

EMS rushed the boy to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner will determine a cause of death.

The source said there was no sign of trauma, and no criminality was suspected at this point.

The baby had been at day care with several other children, according to sources. A spokeswoman for the Administration for Children's Services, Chanel Caraway, said the family of the baby has no current case or history with them.

"Our top priority is protecting the safety and well-being of all children in New York City. This family has no current case or history with ACS," she said.
