Man Allegedly Groped, Threatened Female Co-Worker With Knife

Police have arrested a New Jersey man after surveillance video allegedly showed him threatening his female co-worker with a knife and groping her repeatedly against her wishes.

Officers arrested Jabed Baker Thursday, Wayne Police Department Captain Laurence Martin said. The 24-year-old from Clifton was released, but will face criminal sexual contact and weapons charges at a future court date.

Police received call around 5:30 a.m. about ongoing harassment last Thursday from a female employee at the Circle K convenience store near Packanack Lake Road in Wayne County. Upon arrival, the woman told officers that Baker made unsolicited advances toward her.

He allegedly grabbed the woman's body and face, then made attempts to kiss her, police said. Things turned violent after she rebuffed his advances.

The store's videotaped surveillance shows Baker allegedly extending a switch blade knife, holding it toward the woman's neck and threatening her, according to authorities. The assault was captured on the store's videotaped surveillance.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the attack.
